Trio in court following serious assault – Woolgoolga

Three people are expected to appear in court today after being refused bail for a serious assault at Woolgoolga yesterday. About 1.15am, (Tuesday 21 May, 2013), the 41-year-old man was assaulted by three people, one armed with a metal picket, at the carpark at Woolgoolga Headland. The man suffered a fractured fibula, serious lacerations and bruising. The trio left the scene in a car. The man was able to drag himself back to his car and contacted emergency services. He was conveyed to Coffs Harbour Hospital where he received surgery for his injuries. About 11.15am yesterday (Tuesday 21 May, 2013) police arrested an 18-year-old man while he was driving his car in Clarence Street, Grafton. Shortly afterwards police arrested a 38-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman at a business in Grafton. They were taken to Grafton Police Station and charged with assault cause grievous bodily harm. They were refused bail and are expected to appear in Grafton Local Court today.
